Hello – I’m Clair.
Welcome to Lough Gur Pottery
I have lived beside Lough Gur in the Midwest of Ireland for over 20 years. Lough Gur is a unique place in the Irish cultural and historical landscape – it has been inhabited for over 6000 years, and the lake and its surrounds have revealed many archaeological treasures, including numerous pieces of pottery.
I am intrigued by the time-honoured ceremonies that these ancient pots were a part of, and their carved surfaces inspire my techniques and surface patterns. I hope that my handcrafted pottery will play a part in your everyday ceremonies – from that hot cup of coffee first thing in the morning, to that lovingly arranged vase of freshly cut flowers. I hope it will encourage you to relish and embellish your everyday.

A group of 8 of us had a private class. It was a fantastic experience! Clair is so helpful and very good at explaining how to do everything! She even provided tea and cakes for us. In our class we had a choice of creating 2 coffee mugs or a flower pitcher. We can’t wait to see the products once they are fired and glazed!

Absolutely beautiful experience. Pottery, history, stories, tea, chats, and some creative fun with no pressure. We were a group of 7 doing the heritage clay workshop, with all different levels of art skills, and it was hands down one of my favourite experiences ever.
